"I have had friends with seriously ill children. It made me uncomfortable
when I saw them because I wanted to encourage them but didn't know what
I could say that would. I want to give you permission to visit us and
say nothing at all. It is comforting to just stand next to us and mourn
with us. It is comforting when you just watch john sleep. You can't
really say the wrong thing. Just be there with us in the midst of our
pain."
